For more than three decades, Colleen Sands directed the cheerleading program with enthusiasm and devotion. She shaped the program and provided the environment where our students learned to excel.

Advanced to state finals 24 times (third place 6 times, including the 2012 team pictured; fifth place three times);
The Astros’ record of achievement resulted in coach also winning many honors:

South Suburban Conference Coach of the Year, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2011-2012;

1994 Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Extra Effort for Outstanding Contributions to Cheerleading;

Two-time ICCA Coach of the Year and ICCA Hall of Fame inductee.
