If Paul Kubski dreamed of one day earning the title of “state champion,” no one could say he was unrealistic in his thinking. Very simply, Paul knew nothing but success from his first days as a wrestler at Shepard.

Freshman year he won titles at both the Morton East and Arrowhead tournaments. He also placed second as a fresh-man in conference. Sophomore year, he would win titles at the conference, district and sectional tournaments before placing fifth at state (he also won regular season titles at the Morton East, Arrowhead, and Wheaton-Warrenville tournaments.)
Finally, as a senior, Kubski won it all. And his favorite athletic memory as an Astro? Having teammates select him as team captain and, of course, winning a state title.

Paul earned the Star-Herald Wrestler of the Year award and three times won the paper's Wrestler of the Week honor.
After Shepard, he earned a four-year scholar-ship to Northern Illinois University.
