Keith Carter

Boys Basketball
Induction Year: 2011

A 1984 graduate and three-year starter on the Astro varsity basketball team, Keith Carter earned All-SICA honors in 1982-83 and 1983-84 and All-Area honors his final year at Shepard. Despite graduating more than 25 years ago, Keith still takes up much space in the Shepard record book. He ranks second in Shepard history on the all-time scoring list with 1,423 career points.

He also holds records — all from 1983-84 for most field goals attempted in a season with 526, most field goals made in a single season with 273, most field goal attempts in a game (28), and most field goals in a game (16).
Keith lists his favorite athletic memory at Shepard as “a comeback win against Argo in 1984.” With less than five minutes remaining and the Astros down more than 20 points, they roared back for a win.

Keith, who also played a year of track and football at Shepard, earned a four-year scholarship to Loyola University Chicago and earned a bachelor's degree in political science.
